Bidding on Harness Racing Bobbleheads on eBay

Driver Jeff Gregory is the latest harness-racing personality to be immortalized in poly-resin. More specifically, he has become one of 504 bobbleheads produced by Standardbred owner Michael Feigenbaum of Randolph, New Jersey.

Gregory’s nodding noggin is currently being auctioned on eBay. As of Thursday afternoon, the Gregory bobblehead had received 17 bids, with a top offer of US$43. Feigenbaum and Gregory will donate a portion of all sales to the Standardbred Retirement Foundation.

"Initially I'm just going to put them on eBay," said Feigenbaum, who has a Dave Miller bobblehead in the works. "I got the idea from seeing the Dave Magee bobbleheads. I thought it might be a good idea to do something like this. I’ve had horses at Yonkers since 1997 and Jeff’s driven some of them. He’s one of the top drivers there, and the way his nature is, I thought I could approach him and get him interested in this."

Last year, Hall of Fame announcer Roger Huston and Hall of Fame driver Dave Magee were the first harness racing participants to become bobbleheads. Huston’s bobblehead was handed out by the Meadows while Magee’s was given away at Hawthorne.

Gregory, 37, was voted the U.S. Harness Writers Association’s Rising Star after a 2002 season in which he won 480 races and $4.2 million. He topped those numbers last season, setting career marks for starts with 3,250, wins with 530 and earnings with $4,336,709. He is within 70 victories of 4,000 career wins.
