New Bobblehead Monte scoots around on a motorcycle If you weren't among the first 1,008 people to get a Monte bobblehead doll last fall, get in line now. A second ceramic figure of the University of Montana mascot is riding into town. This time Monte's sitting on a motorcycle and holding a football. The University of Montana Alumni Association is calling this limited edition of Monte bobbleheads the "second in a series." The first edition "sold incredibly well," said Katie Stanton, board liaison and assistant marketing director for the association. "We sold out, with no plans to re-order, and were still getting calls from people who wanted one." This time, the Motorcycle Monte Bobblehead sells for $29.99 - up $4.99 from the original. The price includes shipping and handling, and the proceeds go to fund many Alumni Association events, including student scholarships, internships, homecoming, class reunions, UM Charter Day, Freshman WelcomeFest/Orientation, Griz Grad Send Off and other programs. Selling Monte bobbleheads was the brainstorm of 1997 UM graduate Rob Bourriague, who works at Alexander Global Promotions, the Bellevue, Wash., company that designs the China-made and hand-painted collectibles. Like the first bobblehead, only 1,008 of the Motorcycle Montes will be sold. Orders can be made by calling 1-877-UM-ALUMS, 243-5211, or by visiting www.UMontanaAlumni.org.
