Canada Gets its Version of Jersey Shore: Lake Shore

A Canadian version of MTV’s reality show hit “Jersey Shore” has recently been announced. And like Canada – it’s multicultural.
Dubbed “Lake Shore”, the show follows the lives eight wild young adults from the Greater Toronto Area as they go clubbing, hang out and hook up.
But unlike the American original, which raised the hackles of Italian-American groups with its depiction of Italian “guidos” and “guidettes”, the Lake Shore cast comes from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds.
Its reported intent is to display the diversity of Toronto, which the recent census revealed is now over 50% immigrant, however critics argue the show simply promotes sterotypes for many ethnicities instead of just one.
Castmembers include:
Sibel, the Turk
Anni Mei, the Vietnamese
Downtown D, the Albanian
Joey, the Italian
Karolina, the Pole
Tommy Hollywood, the Czech
Robyn, the Jew
Salem, the Lebanese
Neither a release date nor a distributor for Lake Shore has been announced.
