The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and Nielsen announced on Tuesday that Nielsen Music will be the exclusive data provider for the JUNO Awards, Canada’s biggest night for music.

The 2017 JUNO Awards begin on April 1 in Ottawa with the JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards and then held on April 2 in the city’s Canadian Tire Centre.

The event will be broadcast on CTV and include a variety of musical performances by artists that include Shawn Mendes. CARAS will assist in selecting this year’s JUNO nominees, utilizing Nielsen’s authoritative music data and insights.

“CARAS is an incredible leader in the Canadian music industry, and we’re thrilled to extend our longstanding relationship with them to help celebrate the achievements of Canadian artists and music at the JUNO Awards,” said Nielsen Music’s General Manager, Erin Crawford.

Nielsen Music has recently launched Music Connect Canada, providing the Canadian music industry with a comprehensive view of the country’s music consumption.

“The JUNO Awards are very excited to renew our collaboration with Nielsen moving forward into 2017,” said Allan Reid, President & CEO, CARAS/The JUNO Awards & MusiCounts. “For years they have been providing us with trusted data, which is crucial in helping us determine the nominees in many categories.”
