Actress Kate Winslet has joined the cast of the Avatar movie franchise, reuniting her with Director James Cameron who helmed the iconic film Titanic that she starred in alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
Winslet will portray “Ronal” in Avatar, a character no details have been revealed about yet.
Four Avatar films are scheduled to be made, hitting theaters in December of 2020, 2021, 2024 and 2025.
1997’s Titanic became the #1 box office movie soon after being released. A title it held until Cameron’s first Avatar movie hit theaters in 2009.
A spokesman for 20th Century Fox confirmed the Winslet news, which was first reported on Tuesday by Deadline.
This marks the second reunion film for Cameron that’s made news in recent days.
He will also produce an upcoming Terminator film along with not only Arnold Schwarzenegger – who has appeared in a number of the franchise films – but also Cameron’s former wife, Linda Hamilton, who will be returning to her role as Sarah Conner.
Unlike Schwarzenegger, Cameron and Hamilton were only involved in the first two films, widely regarded as the best of the series. The new, as yet untitled Terminator movie is due to hit theaters in July 2019.
