Attempted Koran Burning Foiled By Skateboarder

A Koran-burning attempt in Amarillo, Texas was recently foiled by the one of the most unlikely sources – A 23 year old skateboarder named Jacob Isom. He was one of about 200 protestors who had gathered to stop the Koran burning event.

Mr. Isom was part of a group that was protesting a Koran-burning plan on Saturday. According to reports, the skateboarder snuck up behind the would-be Koran-burner and snatched the Koran from right under his nose. The man protested and shouted something about burning the Koran, to which Mr. Isom responded with “’Dude you have no Koran” before running off.

Mr. Isom was also quoted to have said “You’re just trying to start Holy Wars”, before giving the Koran to a Muslim leader, who was also present.

The would-be Koran burner, identified as David Grisham, director of Repent Amarillo, had announced his plans to burn the Koran in support of Florida Pastor Terry Jones. Pastor Jones had earlier called off his own Koran burning plans. According to Amarillo Globe-News, Grisham’s group aims to deter promiscuity, homosexuality and non-Christian worship practices through confrontation and prayer.

The Repent Amarillo group made the news not too long ago after it staged a boycott against Houston for electing a lesbian mayor, Mayor Annise Parker. The group had also earlier targeted a group of local swingers in March this year.

Sources also confirmed that Mr. Isom grabbed the Koran out of Grisham’s hand when the Repent Amarillo director become too involved in his argument with several residents at Sam Houston Park about the merits of burning the Islamic holy book.
