JUNO nominated trio Blitz//Berlin are pleased to announce the release of their sophomore instrumental album “Movements II”, available everywhere now via Wax Records/Universal Music Canada.
“Movements II” features a collection of ten original songs, some previously unheard and other recognizable from their film composition work.
The album also includes the Toronto composers take on one of the oldest known Canadian folk songs “Farewell To Nova Scotia”, featured as part of the CanadaSound Project in celebration of Canada 150 and spotlighting new artist Bülow.
Lead track “The Tannhauser Gate” is one of several pieces composed by Blitz//Berlin as part of their work on the Blade Runner 2049 campaign. While this composition wasn’t featured in the film, it is now available to fans around the world on Movements II. The forthcoming visual companion was inspired by the isolation and stark lifelessness of the future which Blade Runner predicts.
Sometimes the daily world around us is stranger than we realize, and can be revealed as such when seen from a different perspective. Exploring this idea, cinematographer Hank Devos captured surreal visions of our modern world and the small identical spaces many of us live in.

Having spent the year working on compositions for feature film before returning to the studio, Blitz//Berlin (Martin MacPhail, Dean Rode and Tristan Tarr) emerged with a haunting yet beautiful collection of tracks for “Movements II”. Several of the tracks were used in the feature horror film “Still/Born” which won Scariest Film at the world premiere during the Overlook Film Festival.
Earlier this year Blitz//Berlin celebrated a JUNO Nomination for “Instrumental Album of the Year” for their debut instrumental album “Movements I” – a collection of original neo-classical and film score compositions, including “Surfboard Fire”. Appearing in 2016’s most viewed movie trailer for the film “The Girl On The Train”, the song includes a sample of Kanye West’s global hit song ‘Heartless’ and was presented the Bronze Award at the 2016 Clio Awards for “Best Use of Music”.
The trio have also composed the original musical score for feature films ‘The Void’, ‘It Stains The Sands Red’ and ‘Extraterrestrial’ as well as the trailer for “50 Shades Darker”, which includes a redux of the Taylor Swift and Zayn smash hit “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”.
