Multiple JUNO and CCMA Award winning entertainer Dallas Smith dominates uncharted territory as he notches his 5th career No. 1 and fourth consecutive chart topper with the irresistible hit “Sleepin’ Around” on both the Nielsen BDS and Mediabase Country radio charts this week.
The Platinum selling Country star and 604 Records recording artist not only celebrates his fifth #1 single at Country radio in Canada, but becomes the FIRST AND ONLY CANADIAN COUNTRY ARTIST in the Nielsen BDS era, to have four consecutive #1 singles from the same album, topping the three from Shania Twain’s “Come On Over”. Smith ties Shania Twain for the most #1 songs by a Canadian Country artist in the Nielsen BDS era with five.
“Thank you SO MUCH to everyone at Canadian Country radio and to all of my fans here at home,” shares Smith. “The continued support across the country is something I don’t take for granted and it will never be lost on both my family and I. I’m simply blown away by all of this and can’t wait to share some new music with everyone really soon!”
“Sleepin’ Around” is the platinum-selling entertainer’s fourth consecutive #1 single from 2017’s Top-Selling Canadian Country album “Side Effects”.
Mixing the international swagger of country music with pop hooks and the anything-goes attitude of rock, the husband and father of two now says thank you to five chart-topping singles, while adding to one of the most talked about and celebrated journeys in Canadian country music.
The award winning album (Side Effects – 604 Records) – is produced by studio ace and long-time collaborator Joey Moi (Florida Georgia Line), features 12 tracks, including the albums first #1 single “Autograph” – the only #1 track from a Canadian Country artist in 2016 and the #1 hits “Side Effects” and “Sky Stays This Blue”.
Last fall, Smith’s 2017 Side Effects tour ushered in crowds in the thousands, while notching twenty-eight shows in 27 cities across the country. In just under five weeks, Smith performed for close to 70,000 fans, including a capacity hometown show at Abbotsford Centre.
The tour thrived in big moments keeping fans on their feet until the very last note was played each and every night – a nightly goal to make sure the fans were having as much fun as he and his band were having on stage. “Hitting a career high note as a country artist” (Kelowna Capital News), his “energetic stage show” (Prince George Citizen), made sure the fans left with an experience they’ll never forget.
